I don’t care how often the library gets vacuumed, it seems like it is never enough. I also dread days with scissor projects because I know the janitor is grumbling about all the little pieces of paper that the kids manage to get all over the floor.
Well, I found a solution to that. I purchased a Bissell Refresh Manual Sweeper in the Blossom print. So far, I have loved this purchase. It might be the best $25 I have spent all year, minus the doorbell.
I finally got my kids in on it today. My kindergarteners were assigned cleanup chores. One student was responsible for picking up any crayons, another student was responsible for pulling out the chairs so my sweeper student could sweep, etc. I have to say they had fun using the Bissell today. I told the kiddo who was pushing it that I thought he had done a good enough job and he said, “I wanna keep going.”
So of course I didn’t stop him.
I often wish I didn’t end the day with kindergarten, solely because I know that my bigger kids could be a lot of help with afternoon chores, errands, cleanup, etc. But trust me… kindergarten can do it too, if you show them how. I am a firm believer that if “you think they can’t do it, then they can’t.”
I can’t share any pictures of kids here, but I did share one of my sweeper and chair helper kiddo getting it done today on Twitter. If you aren’t following me on Twitter, you are really missing out.
