FALLING ACORNS, MIGHTY OAKS

Library Life

This is going to sound strange, especially coming from me.

I really can’t remember a time that the days have flown by like this.  I’ve never looked forward to Mondays the way that I have.  Mr. McHenry used to joke that “Friday is one day closer to Monday” and well, he probably wasn’t really joking.

I told mom that most days work does not feel like work.  It’s nice to come in and work with kids all day.  Most days feel like we are hanging out and having fun.  It’s strange to say work and fun in the same sentence, but it really is fun.  I’ve enjoyed other jobs I’ve had before, don’t get me wrong.  But not like this.

This week is a short week because of Thanksgiving.  I’m going to do some free choice STEM stations with my classes.  I’m really looking forward to my preschool class.  I’ve recently discovered ChatterPix, an app that lets you make inanimate objects or still photos talk.  I’m going to have them color turkeys and we are going to add a voice to them.  I think it’s going to be really fun and I can’t wait to see their reactions.  After we finish, I’m going to use my computer to piece together and edit the videos so we’ll have something to send out to the staff.

When I taught high school English and when I worked in admissions, I remember looking to Thanksgiving as a point of “oh my gosh, I can’t wait to get to break, I need a break so bad, this is going to be awesome.”  I’m heading home after school on Tuesday and of course I am excited to see my family and hang out, but I don’t feel that desperation.  I’ve worked long and hard, but I’m not mentally as tired as I was before.

I’ve spent the weekend doing some Christmas crafting, so hopefully I’ll have an update on that soon.  I’m afraid to say too much as I never know who reads this!
