All good things must come to an end and as summer has wound to a close I have been left with a lot of feelings. Last summer was so different as it was my maternity leave. This summer was filled with a much bigger baby to entertain. To save money I kept her out of daycare this summer, but I started to slowly lose my mind at the same time. When I dropped her off at daycare the other day so I could go back to work, I realized I hadn’t been away from her in almost two weeks. The occasions before that were when she stayed with a retired teacher friend so I could go to some first aid training courses.
So it’s nice to have a life outside of my house and outside of being a mom. I’ll also say that I have worked harder this summer than I have in a while, but I have also felt more fulfilled. I’m working on some important projects at school, which have brought a lot of joy to me as they’ve relit some of my passions. Having those little passion projects add a lot to my (sometimes already full) plate but they add so much to the overall quality of life that I’m trying to find a work life balance to fit them in.
The library is still full of iPads and other fun tech goodies that need to get out, but I’ve gotten a TON of stuff out this week. Monday & Tuesday are teacher work days, with students returning Wednesday. I’ve got a lot of meetings and trainings to attend on Monday, but Tuesday will be more time to get a lot of stuff done. I’m looking forward to knocking out some of the many things that are on my to do list. While kids will be in the building on Wednesday, I will still have the remainder of the week to finish all of the library related things… which I’m thankful for, especially since Ms. Shepard will be back to assist.
Now to get through the weekend–all of the domestic goddess duties that I have neglected during the week await me.
