I haven’t mentioned this much, since the “whole world” doesn’t know yet. I think writing about it here is pretty safe, since I don’t think my site gets a lot of traffic.
I’m moving this summer. I have about two weeks off to move, so I’m going to move some things, go to my parents’ for a day or two, and then get my cousins for a trip. My plan is to have them help me with moving. I want to get all the small things out of my current house and into my new house before we contend with moving the bigger items. I have a LOT of stuff. I won’t start the process until about July 6th, but I started packing last night. I was putting away clothes and I reached the point where I was thinking “well, I probably won’t wear this again before I move” so I decided to start throwing stuff into pages. I got my yoga pants, jeans, tights, most of my sweaters, and a lot of my tshirt collection packed. I also packed up shorts that I won’t be wearing because well a girl has her favorites. I got some books in tote bags as well. I also managed to get about 5 loads of laundry done last night.
The laundry nearly killed me, but I was glad to have gotten it out of the way. Now I’m faced with bags and such EVERYWHERE. It will just have to be like this until I take the first trip there. I imagine my first trip will be filled with a lot of the things that I have at my office, plus whatever random bags of clothes and such that I grab.
When I looked at houses, I didn’t take any photos of the inside of the homes. I am super forgetful and saw so many places that I can’t remember a lot of the specifics about the house I chose (like the layout, the closet size, etc.). When I pick up the keys, I’ll have to do a good walk through and get things situated.
I plan to use the second bedroom as a craft room, but I’m rethinking some of that. I have had an interest lately in becoming a respite foster mama. I’d have kids while their full time foster families needed a break or while they were traveling somewhere that they couldn’t take the kids (like out of state, maybe). I also wouldn’t mind being available in emergency situations–like send me the kids if they need a place to stay over the weekend while their caseworker figures out where to place them. I don’t know how much of a need there is for this where I am moving to or what the requirements would be. The second bedroom in my home is on the second floor and there is no bathroom on the second floor, so I don’t think I’d like having a child up there unsupervised all night long. Plus if I had a younger kid and they were crying, I wouldn’t be able to hear them necessarily. I’ll just have to see where this life takes me. No sense in stressing about it too much, since I don’t even have furniture to really make that a possibility at the moment.
All in all, I’m super excited for what life is going to throw at me next.
