I am celebrating Digital Learning Day with my classes this week. It falls on February 27th, but I will be celebrating all week to ensure that my classes get in on all the fun.
As I mentioned in a previous post, my students have been begging to play Gimkit. I broke down and spent about an hour this evening creating a Gimkit that focuses on internet safety and digital citizenship. My third, fourth, and fifth graders are going to be playing the Gimkit.
My younger friends will do coding activities, choosing between Kodable and codeSpark. CodeSpark still reigns supreme for my students, being the constant favorite. I imagine they’ll choose that, but it will be interesting to see. Kodable has a contest going on right now where you can decorate a fuzz (their little characters), so I plan on offering those coloring sheets as well for any students who are interested.
Fourth and fifth graders have an assembly this week, so that throws a kink in my plans but we are rolling with the punches as always.
I look forward to seeing how others are celebrating digital learning day this year.
