I spent some time pondering this myself.
Falling acorns is a nod to my school, as the mascot is a squirrel. I have spent so much time as a student and now as an employee there, that it made sense to include a place that has had such a big impact on me in the blog name.
Once I got going on wordpress.com, I decided that I liked blogging again. I wanted my own domain name and more power over my site. Now I probably have too much power and haven’t figured out how to make things work exactly right at the moment, but that’s okay. Since moving to wordpress.org, I have been keeping my skills sharp. Skills that I learned in my least favorite class so far for my library science masters degree, but… it is a skill!
The URL for falling acorns was taken, so I had to think on it. I stumbled across a quote about how fallen acorns make mighty oak trees, which I thought was fitting. I am a fallen acorn becoming a mighty oak tree, so the name stuck with me. I’m excited to be writing for this site and look forward to making it my own.
PS–tomorrow morning I head to my parents’ house to be closer to the beach, as I will be spending a week there starting on Sunday. I’m so excited and can’t wait to share cool beach photos with y’all!
