This morning was off to a rough start for me, as I woke up and discovered that someone had hit my mirror and it is torn to hell, so I’m going to have to carry it to get fixed tomorrow.
Months ago, several friends and I booked a beach cottage on Hatteras Island in North Carolina. The news has blown up since then, as a few days ago a power line was cut during construction and the entire island has been without power. This has forced an evacuation of tourists. Not only have vacations been ruined, but the people that live there are up the creek without a paddle, as my dad would say. Businesses have lost so much money because vacationers are not there to eat, drink, and shop.
They are estimating another 1-2 weeks to fix the power. We are supposed to get the keys to the rental a week from today, so Sunday. I’m waiting now to see what’s going to happen next. Between my car, the uncertainty of vacation plans, and uncertainty in other areas of life I am about to go bonkers. It’s terrible planning something out for months and then it all hang in the air. Not to mention, if we can’t go to Hatteras, I really can’t afford to just go somewhere else for a day or two as it will take a while to be refunded. Our rental has insurance, so we will get the cost of the cottage back… just not sure when.
Anyway, enough about that.
Otherwise, today wasn’t terrible. I got to have lunch with a former coworker who starts her new job Monday. I got to see Ashley after she returned from Nevada (and some cool pics that she took).
Just ready for tomorrow to come so I can start dealing with some things.
